ccording to designer Billy Cotton, a well-designed tabletop is an essential ingredient for an elegant meal. For his latest collection for Bergdorf Goodman, which includes tableware, glassware, and flatware, he combined a sleek mid-century sensibility with a classic English color scheme: navy and white, with unexpected pops of yellow. “The reason I design tableware is because of the interaction between the user and the object,” says Cotton. “That intimate moment is so important, and good design should be a decisive component.” r

abric changes everything. Without it, a house is naked,” says Miguel Angel Guisado Martín, sales manager of textile manufacturer Gastón y Daniela. Based in Madrid, the company produces a variety of bold, colorful wallpapers, and fabrics created from linen and cotton blends, as well as pillows, throws, furniture, and suitcases. Inspiration for the prints ranges from classic architecture to flea-market clothing. “We have a collection suitable for all kinds of dressings and styles,” says Guisado Martín. “Fabrics need to be used, and our high standard of quality lets them be lived in every day.” r
